Jammer Bikes

James Newman was part of the first wave of urban fixed gear riders that made the small cycling subculture into a global scene. He was featured in two of the most popular films of that era:  MASH in 2007, and Macaframa in 2009. James has been riding track bikes on the street for 25 years.

Using that experience and reflecting on his time in the messenger and cycling communities, he took an opportunity to start a company and produce his ideal track bike – the Jammer. It’s built by Rick Hunter, which means it is a high quality hand built fully custom steel frame and fork. The bike is steep, nimble, and solid. Think of your average track racing bike, but steeper and built for the streets. It was developed for those who want responsive handling and the ride quality of handbuilt steel. The Jammer is a combination of tig and fillet brazed welds, custom dropouts, wishbone seat stays, an exceptional fork, and no frills.

The concept comes directly from a bike that James designed, and Hunter built for him in 2009. It was recently featured by cycling youtuber Terry Barentsen in a short video, which includes an in-depth bike check and some history. That bicycle is still remarkable, so call it 17 years of research and development.

That original design has been reproduced and updated to accommodate tires up to 30c. The proprietary Jimmy James Jeometry has been scaled to 5 sizes:  49, 52, 55, 58, and 61.
